The Global Union of Changemakers (GUC) has officially announced an upcoming global webinar under its GUC Legal Literacy Workshops Program, aimed at empowering young people with knowledge of their rights and strengthening their role in advancing justice and inclusive societies.
The webinar, themed “Empowering the Next Generation to Stand for Justice,” will be held on 21st March 2026, in commemoration of Human Rights Day, a significant day dedicated to promoting equality, dignity, and human rights.
This international event will bring together participants from across the globe to engage in critical discussions on human rights, legal awareness, and youth-led advocacy.

The Global Union of Changemakers (GUC) has officially announced Fatuma Maulid Msemakweli as the recipient of the GUC Leader of the Year Award, following the conclusion of a transparent and participatory online voting process involving members, partners, and stakeholders from across the GUC global network.
The GUC Leader of the Year Award is a prestigious annual recognition established to honor exceptional leadership, integrity, dedication, and measurable impact in advancing the mission and values of the Global Union of Changemakers.
After a rigorous nomination, vetting, and verification process conducted by the GUC Secretariat and relevant internal committees, six senior leaders were officially nominated for the 2025 award cycle. The final decision was determined through an open online vote, with strict measures in place to ensure fairness, accountability, and transparency.
A total of ninety-one (91) valid votes were recorded at the close of the voting period. Fatuma Maulid Msemakweli emerged as the clear leader, securing 44 votes, representing 48.4% of the total votes cast. She was followed by Liban Ibrahim Wako, who received 29 votes (31.9%), and Polyne Nafula Wechuli, who garnered 14 votes (15.4%). The remaining nominees collectively accounted for the remaining votes.
The leadership of GUC commended all nominated leaders for their exceptional service and unwavering commitment to the organization’s mission, noting that the nomination itself reflects a high level of trust, performance, and leadership excellence within the GUC structure.
Speaking on the outcome, the GUC Secretariat emphasized that the award reflects not only individual excellence but also the collective strength of GUC’s leadership ecosystem, which spans multiple regions and thematic areas worldwide.
The Global Union of Changemakers reaffirmed its commitment to promoting ethical leadership, inclusivity, and participatory governance, noting that recognition initiatives such as the GUC Leader of the Year Award play a vital role in motivating leaders and strengthening institutional accountability.
The results of the voting process have been officially validated and declared final by the GUC Secretariat.

The Global Union of Changemakers (GUC) has officially unveiled the nominees for the GUC Leader of the Year 2025 Award, a prestigious annual recognition honoring an outstanding GUC leader who has demonstrated exceptional commitment, integrity, leadership excellence, and measurable impact in advancing the mission, values, and objectives of the organization.
Following a comprehensive vetting and verification process conducted by the GUC Secretariat and relevant committees, six leaders have been duly nominated and cleared for public consideration.
