The Global Union of Changemakers (GUC) is pleased to announce the establishment of its new Board of Governance, marking an important step in the organization's ongoing restructuring and development.
The new Board forms part of GUC's transition into a more structured, accountable, coordinated and action-oriented phase of organizational development.
The restructuring introduces a clearer governance and operational framework connecting the General Assembly, Board of Governance, Executive Leadership, 14 specialized departments, regional and country structures, project teams, members and volunteers.
The establishment of the Board comes alongside the introduction of 14 specialized departments, designed to strengthen GUC's work across membership and leadership development, projects and programs, partnerships and resource mobilization, finance, communication, international relations, research and advocacy, human rights, climate action, education and innovation, humanitarian and community development, risk and safeguarding, technology, and monitoring and learning.
The new structure is intended to provide clearer responsibilities, stronger coordination, improved reporting, greater accountability and more opportunities for members to contribute.
Positions within the organization are viewed as responsibilities for service, not simply titles. Leaders are expected to demonstrate commitment through participation, initiative, teamwork, communication, reporting, implementation and responsible leadership.
Additional departmental leadership positions will be filled progressively through appropriate recruitment and appointment processes as GUC continues to develop its organizational capacity.
