The Global Union of Changemakers (GUC) is pleased to officially publish the final results of the GUC Leader of the Year 2025 Award, following the successful completion of a transparent, participatory, and globally accessible voting process.
This award is an annual flagship recognition that honors a GUC leader who has demonstrated exceptional commitment, ethical leadership, integrity, accountability, and measurable impact in advancing the mission, values, and strategic objectives of the Global Union of Changemakers.
The nomination process for the GUC Leader of the Year 2025 was conducted through an internal institutional mechanism coordinated by the GUC Secretariat in collaboration with relevant leadership and oversight structures. All nominees underwent a rigorous vetting and verification process to ensure eligibility, active service, leadership performance, and adherence to GUC values.
Following this process, six leaders were officially cleared and unveiled as nominees for the 2025 award cycle.

Voting for the GUC Leader of the Year 2025 was conducted online and was open to GUC members, partners, and stakeholders across the organization’s global network. The process was guided by the principles of fairness, transparency, and inclusivity, with the following measures applied,

A total of ninety-one (91) valid votes were recorded at the close of the voting period.
Fatuma Maulid Msemakweli – 44 votes (48.4%)
Liban Ibrahim Wako – 29 votes (31.9%)
Polyne Nafula Wechuli – 14 votes (15.4%)
Nura Wakili Muhammad – 4 votes (4.4%)
Alexis Nyamayi – Votes recorded below leading threshold
William Wisdom Bokuba – Votes recorded below leading threshold
